The Memphis Grizzlies waived veteran guard D’Angelo Russell on Friday and signed undrafted guard Brendan Hausen.
Russell, 30, was acquired from the Washington Wizards on July 8 in a six-team trade. He had been acquired by the Wizards from the Dallas Mavericks but did not play for Washington while reportedly anticipating a contract buyout.
In 11 NBA seasons, while seeing playing time with five different organizations, Russell averaged 17.0 points with 5.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 655 games (539 starts). He was named an All-Star in 2019 as a member of the Brooklyn Nets.
Hausen, 22, played four college seasons with Villanova, Kansas State and Iowa. His best season came in 2024-25 when he started 33 games for Kansas State and averaged 10.9 points with 2.5 rebounds while shooting 38.8% from 3-point range.
The Amarillo, Texas native averaged 4.0 points in 21 games (no starts) for Iowa last season.
