The Baltimore Orioles reinstated right-hander Chris Bassitt to the active roster and the veteran will start Friday’s road game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
In a corresponding move, right-hander Yaramil Hiraldo was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk.
Bassitt, 37, last pitched for the Orioles on June 3 before he went down with lower back discomfort. He is 4-4 with a 5.27 ERA in 12 appearances (10 starts) this season.
An All-Star in 2021 as a member of the Oakland Athletics, Bassitt is 87-69 with a 3.71 ERA in 244 lifetime appearances (228 starts) in 12 seasons with the Chicago White Sox (2014), A’s (2015-21), New York Mets (2022), Toronto Blue Jays (2023-25) and Orioles.
Hiraldo, 30, was 1-0 with a 5.87 ERA in seven relief appearances this season and has a 4.94 ERA in 25 career appearances going back to last season for Baltimore.
