Testing confirmed a high-ankle sprain for Cleveland Browns rookie linebacker Carson Schwesinger, ESPN reported Monday.
Schwesinger, who leads Cleveland with 64 tackles, was injured during Sunday’s setback at New England and could be sidelined for four or more weeks. He was wearing a boot on his right leg after the game.
He recorded his first career interception and five tackles in the 32-13 loss to the Patriots. The injury occurred midway through the fourth quarter when teammate Isaiah McGuire appeared to roll into his leg.
Cleveland drafted Schwesinger with the first pick of the second round in April out of UCLA. He has started all eight games for the Browns (2-6), adding one sack, three quarterback hits and four tackles for loss.
