Willy Adames, Casey Schmitt and Jung Hoo Lee combined for four runs, five RBIs and seven extra-base hits to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 6-3 victory over the host Baltimore Orioles on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series.
Adames and Lee each provided a homer, double and two RBIs while Schmitt drilled three doubles with two runs and an RBI. Matt Chapman reached base three times with two hits and a walk and also scored a run for the Giants, who won their third straight game
Landen Roupp (2-1) picked up the win while allowing one run on five hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out four.
Gunnar Henderson hit a two-run homer for his third circuit clout in the last four games, Adley Rutschman went 3-for-5 with two doubles and Leody Taveras had two hits and an RBI for Baltimore, which had a three-game win streak snapped.
Shane Baz (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing three runs on nine hits over five innings. He walked two and struck out four.
San Francisco, launching a nine-game trip in the Eastern time zone, took a 1-0 lead in the third on Adames’ second home run of the season — a 402-foot drive to right-center.
The Giants extended the lead to 3-0 in the fourth. Schmitt led off with a double and scored one out later on a single by Heliot Ramos, who advanced to second on a single by Patrick Bailey. With two outs, Adames lined a double down the left field line to drive in Ramos.
Baltimore cut the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth when Dylan Beavers walked and scored on Taveras’ double to right.
San Francisco scored three times off reliever Nick Raquet in the seventh to extend the lead to 6-1. Chapman walked and scored one out later on Schmitt’s double into the left field corner. Lee then followed with a homer into the bleachers in right.
The Orioles closed to 6-3 in the bottom of the ninth on Henderson’s fifth home run, a 383-foot drive to right, that drove in Jeremiah Jackson after his single.
